Since the disk drive is louder than the cooling fan, it probably won't do much for systems that still have the previous disk drive installed.
The cable is a custom conversion cable that plugs into the former fan connector and converts the signal (10K built in).
Note: This kit is not compatible with earlier versions of the for Dreamcast console, known as for VA0.
